Add Nordic Naturals Baby’s DHA or not

Add Nordic Naturals Baby's DHA or not

Today, I read a post that introduce fish oils and other health products of a famous brand Nordic Naturals. This reminds me that it should be the time for adding Nordic Naturals Baby's DHA for my two months daughter. Since my daughter was born, I always think of if it is necessary to adding baby's DHA, although I have prepared a bottle of Nordic Naturals Baby's DHA for her. Considering this is a baby product, I tried my best to search some relate information about Nordic Naturals Baby's DHA before I make the decision.

Nordic Naturals, this is USA company founded at California in the mid-1990s. The company are committed to delivering the world's safest, most effective omega oils. It it a reliable company. The labels on Nordic Naturals Baby's DHA indicates the DHA is Made from exclusively from their Gold Standard Arctic Cod Liver Oil™. According to information from google search, the Arctic Cod is from Norway where the founder of Nordic Naturals came from. And this product is tested by the third-party. I think I can trust this company and the information they provide. It also seems that there is not negative news or comments about their products.

But this is not the end. During search, I found that the products of Nordic Naturals official website has total 7 country websites (United States, Canada, Norway, Ireland, Peru, United Kingdom and China) plus additional international site (this seems to be same as United States website). I look the products sold in each country. To my surprise, the Nordic Naturals Baby's DHA suitable for the baby under than 12 months is only sold on USA and China market. This is a very strange thing.

Per my understanding, the baby product quality standard is very strict in EU and Canada. Is that the reason? Then I dig into this, and find an artical about this. There is a rumor that the product of Nordic Naturals Baby's DHA is forbidden to sold in Denmark in 2014. Somebody wrote an email to Nordic Naturals and get a clarification, see below quote:

Hi Barbara,
Since our founding in 1995 we have been committed to delivering the safest and most effective Omega-3 products in the world. We sell our products in 38 countries worldwide and always follow the regulations put in place by each country's government. Fødevarestyrelsen in Denmark does not have a classification for rosemary as a preservative in baby food so even though the product has been used by hundreds of thousands of children all over the world, Fødevarestyrelsen chose to not allow the sale of the product in Denmark. Because of this, the product has never been distributed in Denmark.
Note that in the United States, Both Baby's DHA and Prenatal DHA from Nordic Naturals are the preferred product of the American Pregnancy Association for pregnant women and babies.
We are 100% confident in the safety of all our products – including Baby's DHA.

Based on above information, it should be safe to take the Nordic Naturals Baby's DHA for the baby under 12 months. But I'd rather to choose to believe the standard from Europe and Canada, not let my daughter to take the DHA so earlier. I plan to add the DHA for her starts from 1 year old.
